Since aiding Aston Villa to return to the Premier League in 2019, Jack Grealish has been one of the best players in English football and is presently abroad with England at the UEFA European Championship 2020. The Lions' captain has been handed his shot at Euro 2020, but in the first triumph over Croatia, the 25-year-old was an unused replacement.

Then he appeared in the second game of the Three Lions at the tournament, spending just 27 minutes on the pitch in the 0-0 tie against Scotland. Eventually, Gareth Southgate gave him a chance to be in the starting lineup, and the midfielder shined in the 1-0 win over the Czech Republic when he claimed an assist on Raheem Sterling's goal.

If he helps the Three Lions to the latter stages of the event, he can have a whole new group of admirers throughout the continent, although many neutral supporters would question why he choose to play in socks that barely cover the lower legs. Let's find out why Jack Grealish likes to wear his socks low.

Jack Grealish's broad calves make it impossible for him to pull his socks much higher, however, the player believes he started wearing his socks that low because of superstition. His socks shrunk in the wash while playing at Aston Villa's academy one year. Grealish played the entire season with his socks just above his ankles, unable to lift them any further up his leg due to his enormous calves.

Low socks were something of superstition for Grealish at this period of his nascent career, and he has maintained this tendency through to his tenure with England. Even though it's unnoticeable, Aston Villa's rising star also wears shin pads. He chose to wear little, junior shin pads which enable him to be untied to move about. He claims that large shin pads and socks are just too high.

The laws of the game demand shin pads for appropriate protection to be necessary. Referees have often warned Frealish about his lack of protection, albeit he does not violate any regulations officially. Grealish made his debut for Aston Villa in 2014, with his socks barely halfway up his thigh. He is still performing the same thing at the age of 25.
