San Diego Open 2021 prize money: How much money does the champion get?

The first edition of the San Diego Open will take place from September 27 to October 3 with some of the best player tennis in the world. Here, check out how many money the champion gets.

While the women will be playing in Chicago, San Diego is ready to receive some of thetop-rankedmaletennisplayers in the first ever San Diego Open, an Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) event. The tournament will start on Monday, September 27 and it will end on October 3.

The event will be held at the Barnes Tennis Center in Point Loma. In the singles main draw, 28 players will try to take the trophy home. Among them, there will be three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray and top 5 Andrey Rublev, who just played in his first Laver Cup.

Other players that competed in Boston are set to appear in San Diego, such as No. 10 Casper Ruud, Denis Shapovalov (No. 12) and Felix Auger-Aliassime (No.11). So fans who will attend the event at the Barness Tennis Center will definitely watch some good tennis.

San Diego Open 2021: How much does the winner get?

The San Diego Open 2021 is in the category of the ATP 250 events, which means that the player will add 250 points to their rankings. Of course, the prize money is also good. The winner of this event will take home $600,000.

If we take the rankings, Rublev is definitely the favorite to lift the trophy. The Russian has claimed six of his eighttourtitles on hard courts, and he will try to add another in San Diego. He will start his run against Fabio Fognini or American Brando Nakashima.

However, Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov are also candidates. However, the main attraction of the first round will be Andy Murray vs Kei Nishikori, two of the best tennis players of the last decade. This will be their 12th overall meeting, with Murray leading 9-2.
