Besides, the soccer community has many other reasons to be excited about this edition. For the first time, FIFA's flagship tournament&nbsp;will expand to 48 teams, with three host countries organizing the event - also something new. 
The&nbsp;United States, Mexico, and Canada will jointly host the highly anticipated competition, with <a href="https:\/\/bolavip.com/en/soccer/it-s-official-fifa-announces-the-venues-for-the-2026-world-cup-20220616-0023.html" target="_blank">all 16 venues</a> already&nbsp;confirmed. One of the biggest questions, however, remains where the final will be played. The AT&amp;T Stadium has recently been suggested as favorite, but those rumors were later downplayed. 
<h2>AT&amp;T Stadium president not so&nbsp;sure Dallas will host 2026 World Cup Final</h2> 
&ldquo;Don&rsquo;t know and don&rsquo;t think they will announce for a while. Several areas in the mix,&rdquo; Cowboys chief operating officer and president of AT&amp;T Stadium&nbsp;Stephen Jones told Mike Leslie of WFAA. 
The same outlet approached Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson, who also said that no final decision has been made by <a href="https:\/\/bolavip.com/en/qatar2022/qatar-2022-cristiano-ronaldo-lionel-messi-and-the-rest-of-the-most-lethal-strikers-in-fifa-world-cup-history-20220609-0031.html" target="_blank">FIFA</a> yet and that an announcement is not expected at least until next year, with Qatar 2022 in the rearview. However, he did say the city is prepared for it. 
&ldquo;We are proud to have been named a World Cup host city, and we strongly believe Dallas is an ideal location for the World Cup final in 2026 and the International Broadcast Center," Johnson said. "The Dallas region &mdash; the fourth-largest and fastest-growing in the United States &mdash; has the central location, economy, infrastructure, culture, and amenities necessary to support this major global event.&rdquo; 
It's still too soon to tell&nbsp;where the 2026 World Cup Final will be held. The governing body&nbsp;has 16 options, but some of them are obviously&nbsp;ahead of the rest. New York, Los Angeles, Mexico City, and Dallas seem to be the leading candidates - but it will probably take some time before we know&nbsp;the final decision.

Many fans are already looking forward to the following FIFA World Cup, to be held in North America in 2026. Not only it will be the first World Cup to be played in three different countries, but also the first to expand to 48&nbsp;teams. Surprisingly, it wouldn't be in Los Angeles or New York. 
<h2>Report: Neither&nbsp;Los Angeles nor New York&nbsp;would host 2026 World Cup final</h2> 
Considering that it will be a historic tournament in terms of participant teams and possibly in attendance as well, the expectation is that the final will be in Los Angeles or New York, two of the most popular cities in the US. 
But according to Hercules Gomez of ESPN, John Sutcliffe reports that the 2026 World Cup final would be held in Dallas. The venue would be the AT&amp;T Stadium, home to the NFL franchise Dallas Cowboys. Said stadium is actually located in Arlington, Texas, and has a capacity of 80,000 spectators.

The other candidates to host the final might be&nbsp;the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey or&nbsp;the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Another option would be the iconic Estadio Azteca in Mexico, which has already hosted the 1986 World Cup final.

Either way, the governing body still has time to make a decision. Qatar 2022 recently ended, so it's not like this is an urgency. The announcement of the 16 venues has already been a big step, now we have to wait and see which of them earns the right to host the most anticipated game.

CONMEBOL is one of the toughest zones to compete for a ticket to a World Cup. Despite this change, the South Americans are trying to keep the challenges in their zone with a controversial petition to the organization that could change all of their plans. 
Since Gianni Infantino started as president of FIFA he was clear that he wanted to change some things, including the World Cup. His plans were successful as the organization decided to go from a 32-team format to one with 48 national squads, beginning in 2026. 
But this controversial move was not well received by some people. Soccer fans are worried that this change could affect the competitiveness in the Qualifiers. But now CONMEBOL has made a petition to FIFA in order to keep this aspect safe and still have the new <a href="https:\/\/bolavip.com/en/soccer/capacity-history-and-more-the-complete-2026-fifa-world-cup-stadium-guide-20220621-0026.html" target="_blank">48-team format in 2026</a>. 
<h2>CONMEBOL wants to keep the same Qualifiers' format for the 2026 FIFA World Cup</h2> 
With more teams to play in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, competitiveness could decrease, but CONMEBOL has a plan to stop this from happening. The South American Confederation asked FIFA to keep the same format they have used as today for the next tournament. 
CONMEBOL's Council had a reunion this August 22 to discuss the Qualifiers format for the 2026 World Cup. The petition was clear: to avoid any modifications and keep the home and away matches as they are. 
Despite this petition, it is not clear if FIFA will agree. As today, in CONMEBOL&nbsp;there are 10 national teams that compete for four and a half tickets for the World Cup. In 2026, this number will change as two more teams will have the opportunity to advance&nbsp;(6.5 spots). 
FIFA is studying new formats for each Confederation as more matches would be played in the Qualifiers. The organization has to think also in the domestic leagues, as they will probably suffer some changes in their schedule thanks to those movements.
