However, his description of Tobias’ time in the 76ers was even more bold. “Ever since they traded him to the Sixers, they put him in the corner. They didn’t utilize him. He was not a priority in their offense and that’s kind of frustrating because if you’re a kick-butt player…you don’t want to be in the corner twiddling your thumb”.



“There was a stretch Embiid and Harden didn’t play for 15 games. He led the team and averaged over 25 points. Then they come back, ‘OK, well you gotta go back in the corner’. Just be around the guys and spend time with your guys and let them know that you love them because they love you.”



To be fair, Embiid should’ve and could’ve played a lot better, even if he was hurt. Being available is a part of the job, and he should be held accountable for his poor play; that’s a fact.



On the other than, we’re talking about the coach with the worst record in Game 7s, which also happens to be the guy with the most blown leads in a playoff series in the history of the game.



Rivers is a terrible tactician and a guy who’s constantly outcoached and too stubborn to even try and tweak his rotations a little. He’s also the kind of coach who would rather roast his players in public than acknowledge he got beaten.



It would be hard to think of a reason why any team would even consider bringing him in for an interview, and this is another example of why no player should ever want to play for him.



Rivers has been living off that 2008 championship for way too long now, even though Tom Thibodeau was the architect behind that elite defense. Now, it’s time NBA teams finally turn the page, and he stays at home with his family.

Rivers has been on borrowed time for way too long already, and some believe he’s still living off that 2008 NBA championship. He’s made a living out of blowing leads in the playoffs, and this might as well be his final shot to prove his worth as a coach.

In fact, James Harden has put up massive performances through the start of the 2022-2023 NBA Season. In the first two games, Harden put up 35 and 31 points, respectively. But against the Spurs, the2018MVP award winner, pulled up only 12 points.On the other hand, Joel Embiid finally showed up with 40 points in their last game, after two quiet performances against the contenders.

But, as questionable as Simmons’ actions and attitude were, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba/nba-playoffs-how-many-times-has-doc-rivers-blown-a-3-1-series-lead-20220428-0015.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Doc Rivers</a> didn’t exactly have his back over the process.
Rivers and Joel Embiid threw Simmons under the bus after his meltdown in the playoffs vs. the Atlanta Hawks. And, while he was partly to blame for the team’s shortcomings, that’s just something you’re not supposed to do.
Unsurprisingly, even Simmons recently admitted that <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba/nba-news-ben-simmons-says-joel-embiid-and-doc-rivers-threw-him-under-the-bus-20220923-0019.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rivers’ words</a> had a lot to do with his desire to leave the organization. But, when asked about that, Rivers simply couldn’t care less about the situation.

“I really didn’t watch him (Ben Simmons), I was watching our guys,” Rivers told NBA Today. “Having said that, Now listen, I wanted him to do well but he’s no longer a Sixer, so I’ve completely moved on from it.”

This isn’t the first time that Rivers dicusses the Ben Simmons saga. And while he did his best to try and stay out of the controversy, he did acknowledge he may not have been assertive enough when he delivered that message:
“It’s all posturing. That’s why you haven’t heard me – I don’t get involved in all that stuff. I’ll leave that up to the front office and Ben’s camp. I’m staying out of that part,” Rivers said in February.”But, listen, some of this stuff I laugh at and I feel bad. I think Ben’s a good kid. I want Ben to do well. We need people to tell us the truth. Unfortunately as a coach in the NBA, I have to do it a lot. I’ve accepted it as a coach over the years. Some handle it well (and) some don’t. Sometimes I don’t deliver it well, even though I try. I’m not perfect, either.”
“At the end of the day, everything I try to do is about winning,” Rivers added.”The people who can handle that, can handle me very well. The people that can’t, probably don’t handle me well. And I don’t lose an ounce of sleep over it.”
Notably, this divorce might be the best thing to ever happen to both parties. Simmons now gets a fresh start somewhere he feels appreciated, and the Sixers have a fully motivated James Harden, so it was a win-win.

As exposed as Simmons was during the game and the series, Joel Embiid and Doc Rivers put most of the blame on him after the game. That’s not supposed to happen, at least not in front of the media.

It took me a long time – the first thing for me was to identify, ‘Okay, I’ve gotta really get right. It’s not a physical thing, it’s mentally.’ I think that first thing of acknowledging it was a huge step for me. […] I think that was tough for me, knowing I didn’t really have that support either, from teammates or whatever it was at the time –

However, Rob Pelinka has an even more important matter to take care of first. It’s been more than a month since the team parted ways with <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba/los-angeles-lakers-fire-frank-vogel-list-of-all-coaches-ordered-by-record-20220411-0023.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Frank Vogel</a>, but it has yet to find a new person for the head coaching vacancy.

Even so, the Lakers are reportedly not giving up hope on him.
<h2>Rumor: Lakers remain optimistic about Doc Rivers</h2>
Shortly after a painfulelimination at the hands of the Miami Heat, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba/nba-rumors-3-players-who-could-save-joel-embiid-and-the-sixers-20220513-0011.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">76ers</a> president of basketball operations Daryl Morey let everyone know that Rivers would continue <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba/nba-rumors-3-doc-rivers-replacements-sixers-should-consider-20220513-0010.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">at the helm of the team</a> for next season.
Everyone assumed that would rule him out for the Lakers post…But it seems that it didn’t. According to Marc Stein in his latest substack, the Lakers not only have more namesin mind besides the reported shortlist, but they continue monitoringDoc Rivers’ situation.
“Suspicions persist in league coaching circles that the Lakers have not completely abandoned hope that Philadelphia’s Doc Rivers becomes unexpectedly available — despite the recent insistence from Sixers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey that Rivers will be back in Philly next season,” Stein wrote.
It would be quite surprisingif the<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba/nba-rumors-lakers-a-real-destination-for-zach-lavine-20220504-0006.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lakers</a>extend their decision just to see if something ‘unexpected’ happens with Rivers in Philly. The Sixers seemed to be clear enough, so unless it’spart of a far-fetched plan to increase their leverage, it’s unlikelythey’ll change their mind.
