The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/houston-rockets" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Houston Rockets</a> have drafted him with the second overall pick and have plenty of expectations for the next few years with him.
The 19-year-old was expected to beone of the highest selections after his impressive, breakout year after high school, and having worked with the two teams with thehighest draft picks, Houston and the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/detroit%C2%A0pistons-t100376" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Detroit Pistons</a>.
Well, the Pistons have ultimately decided to use their first selection on <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba/nba-draft-whos-cade-cunningham-20210730-0003.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cade Cunningham</a>, making Green available for the Rockets in the following pick, and he hasn’t missed the chance to takea jab on Detroitrecently.

Green, like any player who enters the draft, was looking forward to becomingthe <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba/2021-NBA-Draft-live-coverage-All-picks-and-trades--20210729-0012.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2021 draft class</a> first overall pick – but didn’t want to live in Detroit, as he told Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes in an exclusive interview.
“I wanted to be the No. 1 pick, but as for the location, I didn’t want to be in Detroit,” he toldHaynes. “I felt a lot more comfortable in Houston. It felt like a real homey environment. With Detroit, it felt like I was just going back to the G League bubble, and I just got out of the bubble. That’s pretty much what it was.
“In the (G League)bubble, I didn’t really have anything to do but just stay in the gym. I didn’t have any time to get away for myself. The only time I had to get away for myself was in my apartment. That’s what it felt like in Detroit. I wouldn’t be stepping outside in Detroit. There are not many things you can do in Detroit like that. You’re going to stay in the gym and then go back to your apartment.”
It may seem like Jalen Green got brutally honest regarding the possibility of being drafted by the Pistons, or for others, it’s just a way of taking a shot at them for not making him the first pick. Either way, he has the chance of proving them wrong this season.

Jalen Green promises to be one of the league’s deadliest scorers and most entertaining players. And while he wasn’t the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba/2021-NBA-Draft-live-coverage-All-picks-and-trades--20210729-0012.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">first-overall pick,</a> some scouts believe that he’ll be the best player in this class.

<h2>Jalen Green: Scouting Report</h2>
Jalen Green was the first top-tier recruit to skip NCAA basketball and join the G-League Ignite Team to prepare for the NBA Draft. That didn’t hurt his draft stock the slightest and helped him develop his craft playing against grown men and professionals.
Green is one of the most athletic players in the league and he hasn’t even played a single minute. He can jump off the gym and is a highlight reel in the making every time he sets foot on the hardwood.
Scoring just comes naturally to him. He can knock down shots from all three levels but won’t hesitate to attack and finish above or below the rim with either hand. He’s got the ability to create separation from his defender in the blink of an eye thanks to his crafty moves.
While not a good defender, his lateral quickness makes us think that he could be somewhat decent at the NBA level as long as he stays committed, which has been the issue with him up to this point.
There’s no doubt that he can be a 25+ points-per-game scorer in the NBA but as it usually happens with pure scorers, they can be streaky; so efficiency can become an issue for him early in his career.
Most scouts have compared him to Bradley Beal and Zach LaVine but I’d like to say he’s a combination of both. He’s way more athletic than Beal and a better shooter than LaVine was when he entered the league, but he’s not as good as a playmaker as either of them.

Even though he slipped from 2 to 3 in most big boards, some still believe that Evan Mobley has the higher ceiling among all the players in this class. That’s because he’s offensively skilled and versatile but also a lockdown defender in the making.
While not an elite shooter in terms of efficiency, Mobley’s form and release make scouts think that he can become a legit 40+% shooter from beyond the arc in the NBA. Combine that with elite awareness and rim protection skills and you have yourself a superstar.
On the downside, there will always be a concern when it comes to big men in today’s NBA. But Mobley looks like a sure thing at this point in his development, given his underrated playmaking skills and shooting.

Jalen Green was the first big-name player to skip college and join the G-League Ignite program. He’s been training with grown men for a year and that has definitely helped him flourish into a promising scorer at the next level.
Green has the upside of becoming a generational scorer. He can put the ball through the hoop from all three levels and has a never-ending bag of tricks and savvy moves. He can create separation in the blink of an eye, pull up from all over the court, and get to the rim at will.
As it usually happens with these players, Jalen Green tends to be streaky and it’s not fully committed in the defensive end of the floor. But his ability to finish inside with both hands is just elite, both below and above the rim. At worst, he’ll be a 15+ points-per-game kind of guy.

Cade Cunningham has been the consensus first-overall pick in this class for months now and for very good reasons. Some go as far as to call him Magic Johnson with a jump shot, which is obviously some pretty big shoes to fill.
Magic or not, Cunningham has the combination of playmaking, size, athleticism, body control, and offensive versatility to become a nightmare for opposing defenses. Also, he’s smart and makes great reads in real-time, although he could take better care of the ball.
Cunningham can either bully-ball his way through the rim, jab-step from the elbow, pull-up, catch and shoot, you name it. He can do it all with the rock in his hands and looks like a generational talent.
