It’s officially official: Carter Hart is back in the NHL. Now, the 27-year-old goalie issued a sincere comment on his personal journey.



Though many fans across the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nhl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NHL</a> are against it, Hart is back. He has yet to sign a contract with the franchise in Sin City, but all signs indicate he will earn one after a brief tryout period. 



With Hart on the roster, Marner and the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/vegas-golden-knights" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Golden Knights</a> should boast one of the best goaltending rooms in the league. That is, of course, provided Hart performs at a similar level he did prior to the Hockey Canada trial. Still, Hart won’t be allowed to play an NHL game until December 1. Therefore, the Golden Knights have more than enough time to get him back in mid-season form. Hart is confident in himself and he made that clear with a powerful comment.



“I’ve learned a lot. I’ve grown a lot. I’m ready to move on,” Carter Hart said, per Las Vegas Review–Journal. “I’m excited to get out in the community and show my true character.”

<h2>Potential debut dates</h2>



With Hart suspended by the NHL until December 1, the Golden Knights may play their cards close to the chest regarding their new acquisition in net. Vegas will take on the Chicago Blackhawks on December 3, a game in which Hart could make his first appearance since January 20, 2024.

Eichel and Marner made their first official appearance in the NHL, but it ended in sorrow. The Golden Knights fell in a shootout to the Kings after the game ended 5-5 in regulation. 



Fans in Sin City were treated to a goal fest in the 2025-26 <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nhl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NHL</a> season opener. It was all in vain, though, as Marner and company couldn’t close it out after leading the Kings 5-3 in the third period. Following the defeat, Eichel delivered a bold message for Marner and the locker room to hear.



“It’s frustrating to give up a two-goal lead in the third. We’ll learn from that and be better for it,” Eichel admitted, via NHL.com. “But there were some things to like. Obviously, we were down a few, got back in the game, got the lead. We want to be able to close those out.”

Of course, Matthews can do well enough on his own. However, that opens up another aspect the Buds may only now be taking into consideration.

“The only thing [the Leafs] don’t like about Matthews carrying the puck…is that that makes Matthews more of a target. They can legally hit him. When you have the puck, you are allowed to have more contact. It gives people more of a license to hit or make contact with Matthews,” Friedman commented on the 32 Thoughts Podcast.

Matthew Knies is a lock to join forces with Captain Matthews on the F1 line, but that still leaves an empty slot. According to reports, Matias Maccelli and Max Domi are battling for that spot in training camp. Regardless, replacing Marner isn’t just about providing the hometown kid’s annual 100-point seasons.

“Marner carried the puck lots. I think Knies can be that in a lot of situations. But you can tell why there’s such an emphasis on who’s the third guy on that line. There’s a lot of pressure on Matthews now, because the safety net of Marner isn’t there anymore,” Kyle Bukauskas added on the 32 Thoughts podcast. “Maybe it takes a little bit of time. But the best players always find a way to have an impact.”

Speaking to reporters in the opening day of training camp, the Maple Leafs captain once again addressed the departure of his former teammate. Far from showing any resentment, Matthews made it clear that it’s all good with <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/mitch-marner">Marner</a>—but also let everyone know that the team is ready to turn the page.

Apart from addressing Marner’s exit, Matthews also talked about his fitness, bringing great news for Leafs fans: “Health wise, I’m feeling really good. I’m really happy about that.”



This marks a big difference from last year, when a training camp injury held him back at the start of the 2024-25 <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nhl">NHL</a> season. Shortly after the loss to eventual <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nhl/nhl-teams-back-to-back-stanley-cup-wins">back-to-back Stanley Cup champions</a> Florida Panthers in last season’s playoffs, Matthews opened up on the physical problems he had gone through.



“I don’t need to get into the specifics of stuff, but I got injured in training camp. I wasn’t feeling great throughout the first month or so of the season. I took some time off. I went to Germany and did all of these things to try to feel better. I was kind of in a place where I felt I could manage it,” Matthews revealed.

“The Golden Knights are in an interesting spot with their goaltending situation,” insider Frank Seravalli commented, via Bleacher Report. “Ilya Samsonov was there last year, he didn’t come back. Adin Hill is obviously the guy.

<h2>Other potential suitors</h2>



Born in Sherwood Park, Alberta, playing for the Oilers would’ve been a dream come true for Hart. However, it seems now is not the time for that to come to life. Instead, Seravalli listed other franchises that could be in on the 27-year-old goalie.



As the insider revealed, the Carolina Hurricanes and Utah Mammoth are expected to be among the biggest contenders to land Hart for the 2025-26 NHL season. However, the list could extend even further as Hart’s sweepstakes are expected to gain momentum.

The air in Toronto will be different when <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/mitch-marner">Mitch Marner</a> returns to Scotiabank Arena this January as a member of the Vegas Golden Knights. After a sign-and-trade from <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/auston-matthews">Auston Matthews</a>‘ Maple Leafs in July, Marner is navigating life in Nevada while preparing for what promises to be an emotionally charged matchup against the team, he helped shape for nearly a decade.



While his <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/vegas-golden-knights">Golden Knights</a> teammates and their families have welcomed him warmly, public recognition has been minimal—something quite different from the constant attention he received in Toronto.



“It will be weird walking into the visitors side for once,” Marner admitted at the NHL/NHLPA North American Player Media Tour, according to <a href="https://www.nhl.com/news/mitch-marner-prepared-to-face-toronto-maple-leafs-homecoming-head-on" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">NHL.com</a>. “Once the week hits, I’m sure it will start hitting about what the thoughts and feeling might be like. But we’ll take it head-on and see what happens.”



<h2>How will Marner navigate his Toronto return?</h2>



Marner’s transition from a potential unrestricted free agent to signing an eight-year, $96 million deal with <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/toronto-maple-leafs">Toronto</a>—before the sign-and-trade—marks the end of his era with the Leafs and the start of a new chapter in Vegas. Toronto received Nicolas Roy in return. Despite the move, Marner maintains fond memories of his nine seasons with the Leafs.

“I still have a lot of appreciation and love for a lot of people there,” Marner said. “I tried to wear that jersey with pride and honor every single time I could. Unfortunately, we came up short. Now I’m here, and like I keep saying, it’s a new chapter.”

<h2>Settling into Vegas life</h2>



Away from the rink, Marner is enjoying life with his family in Nevada. He’s adjusted to the time change, embraced the team culture, and appreciated the slower pace of public attention. 



“The team has been great, and so have the players and the wives, making us feel at home and helping out Steph, too,” he noted. He’s also looking forward to sharing his first Golden Knights home game with his son, a special personal milestone.
