The Georgia Bulldogs are gearing up for their biggest test of the season. After narrowly falling to Alabama three weeks ago, the Dawgs aim to rectify their mistakes when they face the top-ranked Texas Longhorns. As head coach Kirby Smart develops his game plan for this marquee matchup, he has sent a clear message about the preparation for either Texas quarterback: Quinn Ewers or <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/arch-manning">Arch Manning</a>.



The Bulldogs are back in the mix in the SEC and they look to reshape the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ncaa">NCAA</a> playoff picture with a win over the Longhorns at Darrell K. As the October 19 showdown between Texas and Georgia approaches, Smart addressed the Longhorns’ quarterback situation, emphasizing how the Bulldogs are preparing for either signal caller.

“It doesn’t change how we prepare,” Smart said, per On3. “They’re not really different style quarterbacks. They’re both really good. I’ll say this. You watch the games that Arch played — he played really well. He did some really good things. But, Quinn’s a great player. They got a great situation because they’ve got two guys that really both came in and are playing well.”

The Bulldogs will face a tall order when visiting the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/texas-longhorns">Longhorns</a>‘ home ground. Texas comes off their biggest win of the season after taking down the Sooners at the 2024 Red River Showdown. Oklahoma was shellacked by Texas, and the ‘burnt-orange’ nation is eager to welcome the team home after such a dominant victory. 



Quinn Ewers had an ideal return to the gridiron with the Horns, though his stats were far from his best self, and he expressed his feelings on the classic matchup against longtime rival, Oklahoma.



“The overall experience and atmosphere is unbeatable. So it’s not hard to get up for this game and we really enjoy the moment. And it’s been fun the past three years and I’m super glad to be 2-1, over five hundred, in the game for sure.”

No. 5 <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/georgia-bulldogs">Georgia Bulldogs</a> (5-1, 3-1 SEC) will clash with No. 1 Texas Longhorns (6-0, 2-0 SEC) on Saturday October 19th at 7:30p.m.ET. The long-awaited matchup could have critical implications on the Southeastern Conference, as well as on the NCAA’s postseason, landscape. The Horns steamrolled the Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Shootout and took sole possession of the Golden Hat. After the game, the quarterback made something clear on what the game at the Cotton Bowl means to him.



The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/texas-longhorns">Longhorns</a> are the No.1 team in the nation and the Sooners learned that the hard way. Texas put on a dominant outing, fueled by Ewers’ comeback, as they routed Oklahoma by a score of 34-3. The Horns’ defense flourished against a lackluster Crimson and Cream offense led by freshman QB Michael Hawkins Jr. Everything went Texas’ way and the celebration at the State Fair of Texas was reserved for the home-state school.



Despite an opening drive interception, Ewers had a solid game against the Sooners defense and improved his personal record against OU to 2-1. Quinn outscored Oklahoma by 83-3 in his two wins against the Longhorns’ archrivals. After the game, Ewers made something clear on the Red River Shootout.

Ewers’ much-awaited return to <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ncaa">NCAA </a>action was not his best performance, by any means. Regardless, he got the job done. Ewers exited Cotton Bowl in Dallas with 199 passing yards, a touchdown and an interception. Baker Mayfield has become a symbol of the never-ending despise between both universities. The former Sooners QB was mocked by Longhorns’ Anthony Hill who planted a flag over his jersey and ripped his name apart. The Horns took their revenge on previous years’ taunts after the 2024 commanding victory in the classic <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-football">college football</a> game.



Mayfield came off an impressive win over the New Orleans Saints during the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl">NFL</a>‘s Week 6 matchup, in which he threw for 325 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions. The Bucs outclassed the Saints 51-27 and Tampa’s signal caller fired back at the critics from the University of Texas.

The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/texas-longhorns">Texas Longhorns</a> continue to be the sensation in NCAAF, this time defeating the Oklahoma Sooners in one of the sport’s most storied rivalries. QB Quinn Ewers made a strong return from his injury and shared his thoughts on the game.



Following their commanding 34-3 victory in the rivalry game against the Sooners, Steve Sarkisian’s squad clearly established themselves as serious contenders in the league and are determined to go all the way. Ewers’ return to the starting role, which saw <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/arch-manning">Arch Manning</a> sidelined, was pivotal for the team’s solid performance.



Once the game concluded, the quarterback spoke with ESPN, sharing his feelings about returning from the oblique injury that sidelined him for several weeks: “I didn’t play the way I wanted to today, but it’s 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond to it,” Ewers stated.



With yesterday’s victory, Ewers has established himself as a specialist in the Red River Rivalry: in three games against the Sooners, he has completed 74.2 percent of his passes for 834 yards, six touchdowns, and four interceptions.
