Notre Dame star point guard Hannah Hidalgo didn’t need much time to prove that she was a special player. Some might even go as far as to call her a generational player.
She’s coming off an outstanding college basketball season in which he showed her defensive and offensive prowess, and while the ending was disappointing, it was hard to put the blame on her.
That’s why, now that she’s about to enter her third season in college, Notre Dame coach Niele Ivey predicted that her star guard will one day be the face of women’s basketball, even ahead of Caitlin Clark.
Notre Dame coach says Hannah Hidalgo will be the face of women’s basketball
“Coming off an incredible sophomore year. Yeah, she’s just ready for it. I’m excited that she’s going to be the face of women’s basketball,” Ivey said. “But she’s earned it and deserves it.”
Needless to say, that’s a bold statement, even for a player as talented as Hidalgo. Given her controversial and conservative remarks, it’s hard to envision that happening.
Of course, she could definitely be that kind of player from a basketball standpoint, but she might not be the most marketable or popular player in a league with a huge LGBT fan base and pool of players.
