Anthony Volpe is in a very complicated situation as the New York Yankees‘ shortstop. The worst part is that his high number of errors has made him the target of intense criticism from analysts and fans who have shown him no mercy during the 2025 season.

So far, Volpe has a total of 17 errors, a staggering number that continues to grow. His situation has drawn even more attention because he plays a delicate infield position where bad plays are often more costly.

While all of Volpe’s errors have direct consequences for the Yankees, it’s curious that at this point in the season, Aaron Boone has not made a stronger decision regarding his shortstop, despite the team now having other options on the roster.

Volpe Is Not Alone with Errors

Many people believe Volpe is the only player this season with so many errors, but that is not the case. While he leads the American League in that category, Elly De La Cruz also has a high number, with a total of 18 errors.

Other players with more than 10 errors in 2025 include Manny Machado, Willy Adames, Junior Caminero, and Eugenio Suárez, just to name a few who have also struggled with complicated plays that ultimately became errors.

The Other Yankee with Errors

To the surprise of many people, Volpe is not alone in terms of errors among the Yankees. Another one of his teammates, Jazz Chisholm Jr., has also been struggling in that category with a total of 14 errors this season. They are the only two Bombers in the top 25 for errors this season.
