2020 NBA Draft: Minnesota Timberwolves could trade for Devin Booker

The Minnesota Timberwolves are ecstatic right now after winning the 2020 NBA Draft lottery. They’re entitled to the highly-coveted1st overall pick, which may be more than enough to put an end to their recent woes by luring Devin Booker to Minneapolis.

Minnesota pulled off several moves last year to try and build a competitive roster, including the acquisition of All-Star combo guard D’Angelo Russell. Now, they could put the cherry on top of the sundae by adding one of the most talented scorers in the world.

It’s not a secret that Booker’s name is going to be tied with most teams this offseason after the Suns failed to make the playoffs once again. And, even though Devin Booker led them to an 8-0 record in the Orlando bubble, there are serious doubts about whether that success can be sustainable in the desert.

2020 NBA Draft: Endless Possibilities

So, what should the Timberwolves do with the first overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft? There’s nothing like a can’t-miss talent in this class but Anthony Edwards surely looks like the safest bet among the top prospects. He’s also a great fit next to Minnesota’s young guns.

Intriguing names like Obi Toppin, LaMelo Ball, or even James Wiseman are also a possibility but most insiders believe they would be better off by just including it on a trade package to get Devin Booker away from the Suns.

Devin Booker, D’Angelo Russell, Karl-Anthony Towns: The Goodfellas

We can’t ignore the fact that Devin Booker, D’Angelo Russell, and Karl-Anthony Towns are best friends. They were all a part of the 2015 NBA Draft and have played next to or against each other since they were kids.

The Timberwolves traded for Russell to pair him with KAT and put the rumors about his desire to leave at ease. It’s only natural to think that they’ll go the extra mile by also bringing the third musketeer on board.

Minnesota has 2 first-round picks in the 2020 NBA Draft. They also own James Johnson’s tradeable contract, and promising players like Josh Okogie, Jarrett Culver, and Omari Spellman. That’s more than enough to pull the trigger for Devin Booker and build a dynasty. The defense may be a concern but when you have 3 young stars, you gotta believe they’ll figure it out.
