The NBA playoffs have been great and exciting but far from perfect. Some of the best players in the world (Kyrie Irving, James Harden, Trae Young, Anthony Davis)have missed time due to injury when it matters the most.

And, while some people want to blame the NBA for the short offseason they had in an attempt to reshape their schedule back to normal, others believe that it’s just a part of the game and no one is to blame.

LeBron James seems to be a part of the first group of people, as he recently slammed the NBA for not listening to him about starting the season too soon and the burden that could take on a player’s body.

LeBron James Slams The NBA Over Tough Schedule

“They all didn’t wanna listen to me about the start of the season. I knew exactly what would happen. I only wanted to protect the well being of the players which ultimately is the PRODUCT & BENEFIT of OUR GAME! These injuries isn’t just ‘PART OF THE GAME.’ It’s the lack of PURE RIM REST before starting back up,James tweeted.

“This is the best time of the year for our league and fans but missing a ton of our fav players. It’s insane. If there’s one person that know about the body and how it works all year round it’s ME! I speak for the health of all our players and I hate to see this many injuries this time of the year. Sorry fans wish you guys were seeing all your fav guys right now, LeBron added.

Shaquille O’Neal Shuts Down LeBron James’ Comments

Shaquille O’Neal, however, didn’t seem to think the same way as LeBron James, as he recently said that a player who’s only asked to work for a couple of hours a day and makes $200 million shouldn’t complain about having to play:

“When you’re living in a world where 40 million people have been laid off and I’m making $200 million, you won’t get no complaining from me,” O’Neal said. “I’d play back to back to back to back to back.”

“I’m not knocking what anybody said, but me personally, I don’t complain and make excuses, because real people are working their tail off and all we gotta do is train two hours a day and then play a game for two hours at night and make a lot of money (…) So my thought process is a little different,” Shaq added.

In all fairness, most of the players that were hurt didn’t make it far into last year’s playoffs, so they had the same time to rest as they usually do. On the other hand, you can’t deny that these have been the most injury-riddled playoffs we’ve seen in a while.
