Jordan Love doesn’t have any elite weapons, but the Green Bay Packers quarterback does have a top-tier coach in Matt LaFleur. However, it’s the head coach the one who’s given him a tough pill to swallow regarding one of the team’s best players.

Jayden Reed, who was the best wideout of the team in 2024, was seen in a walking boot. LaFleur was asked about it. “It’s something different (from what put him on NFI to start training camp). … Hopefully, we’ll get him back before the regular season.” However, when asked if that meant that Reed would miss Week 1, he said, “potentially.”

For a team that is not precisely stacked at the wide receiving position, losing the one guy who was productive is not good at all. No receiver surpassed the 1,000-yard mark last season. Love didn’t have one certifiable weapon to throw the ball to.

Reed should not be out for long

If there is a silver lining in all of this, it’s the fact that Reed might be back, if not on Week 1, but early in the season. Love should have him back relatively soon. That is key for the Cheeseheads, as not only they don’t have a massive WR1, but they’ve dealt with lots of injuries on that unit as well.

Jayden Reed #11 and Jordan Love #10 of the Green Bay Packers celebrate a touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during a game at Lambeau Field on December 17, 2023 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Buccaneers defeated the Packers 34-20.

Reed racked up 857 yards last season. However, his touchdown numbers are what really excite Packers’ fans. Reed averages seven touchdowns per season, he is a constant presence in the endzone.

Who are the other wide receivers on the Packers?

The Green Bay Packers have a lengthy receiving corp. What is curious about this is that most of them were drafted by the team, instead of going to the market. Alongside Reed, the other wideout who is injured right now is Christian Watson. These are the ones available:

  • Romeo Doubs – 4th round pick, 2022
  • Matthew Golden – 1st round pick, 2025
  • Savion Williams – 3rd round pick, 2025
  • Dontayvion Wicks – 5th round pick, 2023
  • Mecole Hardman – Signed from Kansas City Chiefs
