Alberth Elis will miss the remainder of the 2021 Gold Cup after suffering a fracture in one of the toes of his left foot.The 25-year-old had to leave the fieldin the half-time against Panama and went directly to the clinic, where an X-Ray was performed and confirmed the injury.
Despite it’s a minor fracture, it will demand Elis around a month of recovery, which rules him out for the rest of the tournament. The Boavista forward has 10 goals in 42 appearances with Honduras and was one of the biggest stars of the team in the 2021 Gold Cup.
Unfortunately for him and the Catrachos, his participation in the Concacaf tournament was suddenly over in an early stage. From now on, Honduras will have to overcome this blow to keep on fighting for the trophy.
