Paige Bueckers once again delivered a standout performance for the UConn Huskies, securing a spot in the National Championship final after a dominant win over the UCLA Bruins. One of the team’s biggest stars expressed excitement about the atmosphere in the Final Four and is confident that they have what it takes to defeat the South Carolina Gamecocks in the final game.
After the game, where Geno Auriemma’s team crushed their opponents with a final score of 85-51, Bueckers spoke in the press conference and praised the support of her fans throughout the game.
“It was amazing for women’s basketball – the turnout, the support, just the display of basketball,” the 23-year-old guard opened up about the atmosphere in Tampa throughout the game.
Bueckers logged a total of 31 minutes, scoring 16 points, grabbing five rebounds, dishing out two assists, and recording three steals. Undoubtedly, her presence on the court in the championship game will be a major advantage for the Huskies over their opponent.

Geno Auriemma is the mastermind behind this winning team, and he was outspoken when reflecting on his players’ dominant performance in Tampa against UCLA: “I don’t think we made a mistake the entire evening, especially on the defensive end,” Huskies coach said.
The press conference had a moment of laughter when, in response to UConn’s coach’s blunt reflection, star player Bueckers interjected, admitting that they hadn’t even seen a replay of the game yet: “I mean, we haven’t watched film yet.”

Azzi Fudd, the other standout player of the game
While the Huskies know they have a star in Bueckers, the team also boasts other great talents, including Azzi Fudd. Her 19 points contributed to the commanding victory over the Bruins, but post-game, she made it clear that they’re going for more in the championship game.
“We never get complacent with our performance,” Fudd said to the press. “We’ll wake up tomorrow, it’s a new day, a new scout.” On April 6th, also in Tampa, the Huskies and Gamecocks will face off to finally determine who will be the new champions of the NCAAB.
