The University of Texas in Austin is no stranger to top-notch celebrities wandering the streets on campus. It’s no wonder students aren’t star-struck when coming across Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns. However, when it comes to Glen Powell, that’s a whole new level.
The Hollywood star seems to be everywhere in the screen and around the globe. However, there is only one place he likes to call home and that is The Forty Acres. Powell, like every person that’s linked to Texas, knows the stakes are ever-high for the Longhorns this season. Most of it lands on Manning’s shoulders, but even the heir of football’s royal quarterback family will need help.
As the 2025 college football season awaits around the corner, Powell and the Longhorns mounted a surprise for walk-on linebacker Marshall Landwehr, who was handed out a scholarship as he enters his fifth year in Texas.
“What’s up Longhorns? It’s Glen Powell, fellow Texas alum,” Powell said on a video played in front of the locker room, via On3. “I have new found respect for what it takes to join a football team. It takes grit. It takes grind. And most importantly, it takes heart. Marshall, your hard work has not gone unnoticed. That’s why Texas is giving you a scholarship.“

Tough break
The NCAA season hasn’t got underway and the Longhorns have already suffered a tough blow as a key player went down with an injury. Offensive lineman Andre Cojoe was competing to earn the starting job in the right tackle position, but will miss the enitre season.

“Andre [Cojoe] sustained a season ending injury. Hate that for him. He’d been working hard to get into a competitive state,” head coach Steve Sarkisian stated, per Inside Texas.
Star-struck
The University of Texas in Austin is used to hosting special guests during home games. Matthew McConaughey is the first name that comes to mind when talking about celebrities who attended the school, and the Academy Award winner rarely misses a Saturday game at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium. Other household names in the alumni list include: Neil deGrasse Tyson, Owen Wilson, Kevin Durant, and Farrah Fawcett.
