There’s absolutely no doubt that, once free agency hits, Trevor Bauer is going to be perhaps the most sought-after asset in all Major League Baseball, following a career year that had him as one of the top Cy Young candidates.

The often controversial, yet incredibly talented starting pitcher is slated to become a free agent – again – in 2021 after signing a one-year deal worth $17.5 million with the Cincinnati Reds last winter.

Needless to say, teams like the Chicago Cubs and even Boston Red Sox could make a run at him as they’re in desperate need of pitching to go back to contention. In fact, even the Houston Astros could be a potential destination despite all the hate he’s thrown towards them for their infamous cheating scandal.

Trevor Bauer Hints At Stay With Cincinnati Reds

Then again, it seems like we shouldn’t rule out a return to the Cincinnati Reds next season, as even though they’re still a couple of pieces away from contention, Bauer recently hinted on Twitter that no one has ever said that he’s gone.

“Who said I’m not going to be around next year??” Bauer replied to a fan who thanked him for all his great effort throughout the season, even though they ended up falling short in the Wild-Card series.

Bauer has earned a reputation for being a bit of a prankster and he’s often calling out people and typing the first thing that comes into mind on social media, so perhaps we should take his words with a grain of salt.

However, he’s constantly said that he wishes to stay faithful to one organization as long as said organization pays him what he’s looking for. That may be the catch there, as to whether the Reds will be willing to spend that much on him is yet to be seen.
