More than 40 games into the MLB regular season, New York Yankees fans will see Juan Soto back on the field, only this time, he’ll be wearing a New York Mets jersey. After standing out in last season’s American League Championship Series, Soto returns to what was his home in 2024.

The Subway Series kicks off Friday and runs through the weekend, bringing the usual city rivalry, and the added twist of Soto’s return to Yankee Stadium. After posting impressive numbers during his time in pinstripes, Soto now looks to build on that legacy with the Mets.

Ahead of the series opener, Soto spoke with New York Post columnist Jon Heyman about what it means to return to Yankee Stadium. He made a bold statement about the fan base and how he expects to be received when he steps up to the plate.

ā€œIt’s going to be 50,000 against one. They’re going to try to get on me, you know. It’s part of it. Whatever they do, they have the right to do it. I’m just going to go out there and do my stuff. I’m just going to try to focus on my game,ā€ Soto said.
