Ronald Acuña Jr. is back with the Braves, and fans couldn’t be happier. Judging by his energy and signature sense of humor, Acuña seems just as thrilled. That personality was on full display recently when he gave his former teammate Orlando Arcia a rather painful “welcome back” gesture.

During the first inning of a game between the Braves and the Rockies—Arcia’s new team—TV cameras caught Acuña Jr. greeting his former teammate. After a hug, Acuña playfully delivered a light but clearly painful low blow to Arcia’s groin area. Arcia doubled over, but it was all in good fun between two players who’ve shared years of camaraderie.

Despite their teams heading in different directions—especially the struggling Rockies with an ugly MLB record (14-57)—both players appear to be enjoying the 2025 season.

Why did Arcia leave the Braves?

Ironically, Acuña played a role. The Braves needed roster space, and Arcia—who started the 2025 season with a .194 batting average—was designated for assignment. Despite the move, Arcia left Atlanta on good terms, sharing a heartfelt farewell.

“I want to take a moment to say thank you to the Braves organization, my teammates, the staff, and especially the fans. Wearing this jersey and representing this city has been one of the greatest honors of my career,” Arcia wrote in a message to Braves fans.
