The New York Yankees are expected to turn to Marcus Stroman again in a series where winning should be a top priority—especially with a matchup looming against a 48–42 team currently sitting third in the American League Wild Card standings.
According to Brian Hoch, Stroman is likely to get the start in Game 3 against the Seattle Mariners, with the series set to begin on July 8 at Yankee Stadium—marking the team’s first home series of the month.
Since returning, Stroman has delivered two solid outings. He earned a win against the Athletics, and in his most recent start—on July 4—he pitched well but received no support from the bullpen, resulting in a 5–6 loss to the Mets.
Yankees need Stroman at his best
The Yankees recently snapped a long losing streak with a series finale win over the Mets on the road, and now return home hoping Stroman and the rest of the rotation can help them build some momentum.

Marcus Stroman #0 of the New York Yankees looks on in the first inning of a Grapefruit League spring training game against the Tampa Bay Rays at George M. Steinbrenner Field on February 21, 2025 in Tampa, Florida.
Will Warren is scheduled to start the series opener against Seattle. According to Hoch, it’s also possible Cam Schlittler makes his MLB debut in Game 2, though that has not been confirmed.
Stroman vs. the Mariners
Stroman’s track record against Seattle isn’t perfect, but it’s respectable. In six appearances—including five starts—against the Mariners during his time with the Blue Jays and Cubs, he holds a 1–2 record with a 3.15 ERA and 32 strikeouts.
