Russell Westbrook and the Houston Rockets are ready to part ways after the player requested a trade from the team after only one year in Texas. The All-Star point guard landed in Houston trying to make an impact alongside James Harden but the experiment failed.

Even though at some point of the season the Rockets appeared to be good with Russ and Harden on the roster, they couldn’t do much in the NBA bubble, struggling to get past the Oklahoma City Thunder before getting dismantled by the Los Angeles Lakers in five games.

Now the Rockets are entering a new season with lots of questions to answer, including the future of Westbrook and Harden. Well, Brodie went ahead and requested a trade after only one season in H town.

NBA fans react to Russell Westbrooks’ trade request

It was expected that the team was going to trade Westbrook but he saved himself some time by requesting the trade. The Rockets’ small-ball lineup didn’t help Russ or his game, so, understandably, he wants out of the team.

Not even the hiring of Stephen Silas as the new head coach could change his mind and he now wants to leave the organization. NBA fans reacted to the news broke by Shams Charania, some predicting where Russ is going to play next and others just joking with the veteran point guard.

Westbrook still can help a team compete in the league but it’s unclear who will pull the trigger to make this move happen. He has been linked with the Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks in recent times, so this offseason will be very entertaining for Brodie.
