The Los Angeles Lakers became a strong championship contender as soon as they traded away multiple assets to get Anthony Davis next to LeBron James. Now, they’re two wins away from winning their 17th NBA Finals.

Davis and LeBron have dominated the league almost at will since day one. Anthony’s presence has helped LeBron stay fresh for the playoffs as he’s no longer needed to be the team’s go-to-guy all day, every day.

James has also helped Davis maximized his talents and he’s now in a position to win and compete for the first time since he made it to the NBA, and there aren’t many things any other team could do to contain them.

Obviously, they’ve been drawing a lot of comparisons between the AD-Bron duo and Shaquille O’Neal with Kobe Bryant, as the two also dominated the league and won three straight NBA Championships. When asked about it, Davis smiled and gave his insight:

ā€œThose two guys were selfless. They both had a competitive spirit. And I think me and ā€˜Bron are the same way. We’re two guys who wanna win no matter the circumstance. We both want to make sure that we do whatever it takes to help our team to win,ā€ Davis said. ā€œHe’s Kobe because he handles the ball and I’m Shaq because I play in the post,ā€ he concluded.

Obviously, the job is still not done and the Shaq-Kobe era was a dynasty, so they’d still have to win a couple of more rings to be on the same tier as them. But so far, so good for the purple and gold and there’s no reason to believe that they couldn’t run it back a couplemore times before James decides to retire.
