There will be no playoff basketball today. The NBA and the NBA Players’ Association have officially announced that they’ll postpone all three games scheduled for today in the light of the Milwaukee Bucks’ boycott of their game vs. the Orlando Magic.
Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets were also scheduled to play today, followed by Portland Trail Blazers vs. Los Angeles Lakers. Now, the league claims all three games will be rescheduled.
“The NBA and the NBPA today announced that in light of the Milwaukee Bucks’ decision to not take the floor today for Game 5 against the Orlando Magic, today’s three games – MIL-ORL, HOU-OKC and LAL-POR have been postponed. Game 5 of each series will be rescheduled,” read the report.
Milwaukee Bucks Players Decided To Boycott Today’s Game
According to ESPN’sAdrian Wojnarowski, all team owners and executives were expecting today’s games to be played. The players decided to stay in their locker room without giving the team’s officials any heads up.
However, all executives have shown their support to their players for their decision not to play in the wake of Jacob Blake’s shooting in Wisconsin. Now, the league has made it clear that there won’t be any kind of penalties.
The NBA and commissioner Adam Silverhave made a name for supporting the players’ views and decisions to take a stand when they feel like they need to vow their concerns, and this won’t be the exception to the rule.
NBA Players Supportive Of The Bucks’ Decision
Current and former NBA players have taken it to their Twitter accounts to show that they stand by the Milwaukee Bucks’ decision to skip hoops for one day, from LeBron James to legends like Scottie Pippen.
Whether tomorrow’s games (Jazz vs Nuggets, Clippers vs Mavericks, Raptors vs Celtics) are going to be played as scheduled is yet to be announced but for now, we wouldn’t be counting on it.
