The Golden State Warriors are gearing up for another run at an NBA championship next season with Stephen Curry leading the way alongside Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green. Still, questions linger about whether the team’s aging core can hold up over the course of a grueling season.
Curry will be 37 when the season tips off, while Butler and Green will both be 35 — making them the most experienced players on the roster. In an interview with ABC7 News Bay Area, the four-time NBA champion addressed those concerns, choosing to remain optimistic about Golden State’s title chances.
“We’re going to find out. I think we can,” Curry said. “There’s a level of know-how. I think what we did last year, those last whatever it was, three quarters or a third of the season after the trade deadline, where we were top three in the league, both offense and defense. All the metrics that show we were a really good team”.
For the Warriors, the challenge will be sustaining a high level of play throughout the regular season while limiting injuries. Last year, Curry missed time during the second-round loss to the Timberwolves, while Butler was sidelined for stretches of the first round against the Rockets.

“Obviously, we have to stay healthy and get through the regular season at a high level,” Curry added. “But I like the identity that we have and the foundation of knowing how to play together towards the end of last season that we can hopefully translate to this year”.

Warriors still quiet in offseason, but Curry stays optimistic
Surprisingly, the Golden State Warriors remain the only team that hasn’t made a move during the offseason. Reports indicate that until the franchise resolves its situation with Jonathan Kuminga, no trades or signings are expected.
Other reports, however, suggest Golden State are in advanced talks to bring in veterans Al Horford and De’Anthony Melton during free agency. The potential addition of Horford sparked conversation among fans, as it would mean adding a 39-year-old veteran alongside Curry, Butler, and Green.
Amid all this, San Francisco Chronicle reporter Sam Gordon noted that Curry remains optimistic about the roster despite the team’s inactivity. Still, the Warriors star emphasized that they “need some pieces to help get us to the next level,” signaling the importance of adding new talent to complement the core.
