The Golden State Warriors were dealt a major blow when Klay Thompson injured his Achilles tendon and announced that heâd miss the whole 2020-21 season. Thatâs why a lot of people thought that theyâd trade away their 2nd overall pick to try and land another star right away.
Nonetheless, the Dubs decided to hold on to that pick to get James Wiseman and instead traded for Kelly Oubre Jr. That, plus Stephen Curry, Andrew Wiggins, and Draymond Greenseemed enough to get back to the playoffs.
Now, however, some rumors claim that the Warriors wanted to trade for disgruntled star James Harden, whoâs trying to force his way out of the Houston Rockets. Steph Curry, on the other hand, doesnât want to give that idea much thought.
Stephen Curry Is Unfazed By The Rumors Of James Harden Joining The Warriors
âWhat was it, probably like two or three years ago, there was a rumor that LeBron [James] was gonna leave [the Cleveland Cavaliers] and come play for us. Thereâs all type of stuff that you hear, and thatâs all part of the small world that is the NBA rumor circles and whatnot,â Steph said in an interview with 97.5 The Game.
âSome of the stuff you kind of laugh at. Some of the stuff is just a part of the business but until anything happens in this league, you kinda just brush it off. Itâs part of the nature of the business,â he concluded.
At the end of the day, itâs unlikely that the Warriors are willing to meet the Rocketsâ asking price for Harden. They already have a nice core and their title window will stay open for a couple of more years if Klay Thompson comes back at full strength.
As for Harden, the Houston Rockets are in no rush to trade him whatsoever as heâll be under contract through the 2023 season, although heâs reportedly added the Philadelphia 76ers as another preferred destination just to get a deal done right away.
