The Milwaukee Bucks have been through a lot in their time in the NBA. From playing in the Western Conference to losing their best player ever in Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, ownership changes, and never-ending etcetera, it's been a while since they made it to the NBA Finals.

Small-market teams aren't usually favored when it comes to landing top-notch free agents. These kinds of franchises need to build through the draft, make changes, and hope that - eventually - it all works out for them.

That's why it was so heartwarming to see that, after all they've been through, they're back on basketball's biggest stage. Led by superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, they beat the Phoenix Suns in the 2021 Finals and became the new NBA Champions.

When Was The Last Time The Milwaukee Bucks Won The NBA Title?

As we mentioned earlier, the Milwaukee Bucks haven't exactly been the winningest team in the league. Just some seasons ago, they finished the season with a 16-56 record, the worst in the NBA.

Thus far, the Milwaukee Bucks have made it to the NBA Finals just three times, including this one. They reached this stage in 1971 and 1974 with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (then known as Lew Alcindor) leading the way.

This is the first time that they make it to the NBA Finals as a member of the Eastern Conference. The last time they reached this stage, they lost in 7 games to the Boston Celtics in 1974.

Before that, they managed to beat the Washington Bullets in just 4 games, with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar winning Finals MVP and Oscar Robertson right by his side. Now, they can put an end to that drought after 5 decades without any silverware. But first, they need to finish the job vs. Chris Paul and the Phoenix Suns, which will be easier said than done.
