Change is inevitable when results arenât coming, and this is something the Jacksonville Jaguars are slowly beginning to experience heading into the 2025 NFL season. Despite this, Trevor Lawrence knows that, regardless of the new faces in the front office and coaching staff, the goal remains the same: to be contenders.
In a recent conversation with the media, the talented quarterback opened up about everything that has transpired recently within the franchise, acknowledging how difficult it is to compare what has left with what has arrived.
âItâs a lot different. I think itâs hard to compare. Just the energy and obviously younger guys. Itâs just a different setup than weâve had in the past, not to say one thing or the other, itâs just it is very different, and I think all around the coaching staff, too, is majority younger guys,â Lawrence said.
âBut the one thing I will say is everyone is in alignment, and itâs the same message and itâs very clear of whatâs being preached and what the culture is going to be about for our team, and the messaging is crystal clear, and I think thatâs obviously important.â

âEven starting with James [Gladstone], havenât spent as much time with him, but obviously Iâve gotten to talk to him and really enjoyed that. But from him, all the way through the whole staff, itâs all the same, and I think thatâs a great starting point for us. Obviously, time will tell, and we have to win on the field. Thatâs most important, but I like where weâre at,â he finally concluded.

The main deficiency in Lawrenceâs game
Achieving positive results in the NFL requires doubling down on the areas that need the most work. In this case, the Jaguarsâ QB acknowledges that his main deficiency lies in his footwork â something Trevor Lawrence made abundantly clear when discussing the situation.
âIâve known about my footwork over the years of playing that I felt like have been a little bit of a weakness, so thereâs some things that weâve talked about of just, what are those things?â Lawrence asked during the latest press conference, âWhat are we identifying as things to work on?â
ââŠthe system is built around timing and tying your feet to your progression, and playing on-time and so it allows you to get backside, it allows you to get to checkdowns or whatever it may be, and you can feel comfortable playing on-time, and more than any system Iâve ever learned, itâs structured and based on that, and itâs so everythingâs tied exactly to, alright this route is on this timing, so then your next progression is off of this footwork, off this timing, so it all ties in perfect,â the QB said.
Can the Jaguars be contenders this season?
With Trevor Lawrence continuing to develop as one of the top quarterbacks in the league and a revamped roster, Jacksonville has the potential to compete for a playoff spot in the AFC. However, their success will depend on the consistency of their offense, the improvement of their defense, and whether they can handle the pressure of competing with the leagueâs elite.
