Things ended badly for the Las Vegas Raiders and Jon Gruden, the head coach resigned after a deep investigation revealed that the NFL found evidence pointing to Gruden as racist, misogenic and sexist. In addition to those hefty accusations, Gruden repeatedly taunted various NFL players.

The investigation began with an isolated issue, as one of the emails where Gruden referred to DeMaurice Smith in a racist way was found on the computers of the Washington Football Team during an investigation that had nothing to do with Jon Gruden or the Raiders. After the email went out, Jon Gruden said:

"That might not have been the best time of my life. I vented a lot. I never felt we were getting the truth and honesty. I'm ashamed I insulted De Smith," Gruden said, adding, "I never had a racial thought when I used it. I'm embarrassed by what's out there. I certainly never meant for it to sound that bad." (In 2011, Gruden was working for ESPN.)

Rich Bisaccia is the new interim head coach after the resignation of Jon Gruden, he will be in charge of the Las Vegas Raiders until an official announcement is made about the new head coach, but there are chances that Bisaccia will keep the job for the remainder of the 2021 NFL season.
