The 2021 NFL Draft is almost here and, as it happens every single year, some people still doesn't get it. To put it in simple words, the NFL Draft is the event that allows college - or foreign - players to become pro and join the National Football League. Every team is entitled to multiple picks with the order determined by last season's standings.
Every single team makes their choice and either keeps the player they draft or trade his rights to another team in return for other picks, players, and/or money. Then, teams decide whether to sign their draftees or make them free agents again.
It may sound kind of complicated but it's actually simpler that you'd think. It usually lasts three days, but most fans only pay attention to the first couple of rounds, which feature the most renowned players from college football.
How Many Rounds Are In The NFL Draft?
The 2021 NFL Draft will consist of seven rounds and a grand total of 259 players will be drafted this season. Trevor Lawrence out of Clemson (quarterback) is expected to be the first pick of this year's Draft, joining the Jacksonville Jaguars.
