Aaron Rodgers has confirmed that he would like to retire as a member of the Green Bay Packers if the opportunity arises. Although the quarterback intends to keep playing, possibly with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he doesn’t rule out a symbolic one-day return to the franchise where he built his legacy.

“I’ve thought about that and I don’t understand what the reason for that is (one-day contract). At the same time, I grew up a 49ers fan and most of my favorite players retired as a 49ers. So, I understand the cool thing about it, but, if I didn’t do it, would that make a difference in how I’m viewed in the Packers’ eyes?”

Rodgers is one of the greatest quarterbacks in franchise history, alongside Bart Starr and Brett Favre. In addition to being named NFL MVP four times, he led the team to a Super Bowl victory during the 2010 season.

“When I retire, in four years, I’m going to go into the Packers Hall of Fame. May or may not get my number retired. Whether they do it or not, that’s fine, but, in four years, I’ll be in the Packers Hall of Fame. I’ll come back. There’s a lot of love from me and how I feel about the team. If I do or if I don’t, I don’t think it should make a difference. I’m not sure yet. If they approach me about it, I probably would (retire as a Packer).”
