Aaron Rodgers has yet to inform Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers whether he intends to play in the 2025 NFL season.

Aaron Rodgers is testing Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ patience. Even though free agency started nearly a month ago, the four-time NFL MVP remains without a team as he continues to contemplate his future in the league.

The mystery could prove costly for the 41-year-old though, as Rodgers is reportedly at risk of losing the Steelers’ opportunity to a star prospect. A-Rod, however, is being encouraged to join the team by a key player for Tomlin.

During a recent appearance on the Kaboly + Mack podcast, Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth only needed nine words to campaign for Rodgers’ arrival, showing a strong sign of support.

“I think he would fit our locker room great,” Freiermuth said of Rodgers, via Steeler Nation. The 26-year-old has been in Pittsburgh for four seasons now, and he can’t wait to team up with a star like Rodgers.

“I was in Ireland again, had a few, and just said, I’ll [direct message] him,” Freiermuth explained. “He actually got back relatively fast. It was cool just to go back and forth with him for a little bit. You know, get to know him a little bit. He had some questions. It was cool. Haven’t talked to him since, but obviously he has a decision to make. Definitely gonna respect his process and whatever he sees as the best.”

Steelers waiting for Rodgers

This is not the first time a Steelers star addresses the A-Rod rumors this offseason. While Freiermuth texted him, Rodgers received a clear message and warning from Cam Heyward, who didn’t talk to him privately but discussed the situation publicly.

More importantly, the leaders of the organization talked about him recently at the NFL annual meetings. Tomlin looked happy about Rodgers’ visit to the team’s facility, whereas GM Omar Khan refused to put more pressure on the QB.

Steelers president and owner Art Rooney II shared an optimistic prediction about the negotiations, though he also warned Rodgers that the team’s patience won’t last forever. The ball is on the quarterback’s court.
