NFL News: Aaron Rodgers sends clear message to Will Howard on being his mentor with Steelers

Aaron Rodgers is embracing his new role in Pittsburgh with open arms, not just as the starting quarterback, but as a mentor to rookie Will Howard. Shutting down rumors that he was unwilling to guide young talent, Rodgers has made it clear: he's ready to lead on and off the field.

Aaron Rodgers stated that he is ready to help Will Howard in his new chapter with the Pittsburgh Steelers. With this, the veteran silenced all the rumors that claimed one of his conditions for signing was that he wouldn’t be required to mentor young players. On the contrary, the star is looking forward to that role.

ā€œI am. I am. Will’s a good kid. He seems pretty bright. Not too big for him. Going through the progressions really well. I’m going to be with him very single day in every single meeting. Found my seat next to him in the offensive meeting. I’m going to help him as much as I can.ā€

The Steelers acquired Rodgers in win-now mode to pursue the Super Bowl, while in the long term, Will Howard is a very promising prospect from Ohio State. The rookie was selected in the sixth round of the 2025 Draft.

Who are the quarterbacks for the Steelers right now?

Aaron Rodgers, Mason Rudolph, Will Howard, and Skylar Thompson are the Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterbacks right now. This follows the team’s trend of heading into training camp with four players at the position.

There’s no doubt that Rodgers will be the starter and Rudolph the backup. That’s why the big question is whether Thompson will be able to keep his spot on the roster, considering the third spot seems reserved for Howard.
