Aaron Rodgers spoke for the first time as a new member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The quarterback admitted that there was no ego involved in the process of making his final decision. Just love for the game.

“I don’t need it. For my ego, I don’t need it to keep playing. A lot of decisions that I’ve made over my career and in life from, strictly the ego, even if they turn out well are always unfulfilling. But the decision made from the soul are usually pretty fulfilling. So, this was a decision that was the best for my soul. I felt like being here with Coach Tomlin, and the guys they’ve got here, the opportunity here was the best for me. I’m excited to be here.”

Rodgers was very cautious and avoided claiming that the Steelers are Super Bowl contenders with his arrival. The veteran simply reaffirmed that he’s willing to give his best for the success of the franchise.

Is Aaron Rodgers retiring?

No. Aaron Rodgers is not retiring. He stated that his relationship with Mike Tomlin and the multiple connections he has with Pittsburgh were part of the reasons why he signed with the Steelers and, in a very interesting detail, during the 13 minutes he spent speaking with the press, the quarterback never mentioned the word “retirement.”

On the contrary, Rodgers appeared happy to be able to combine football—the game he loves—with a crucial personal moment, as he confirmed that he is now married. In this context, the Steelers could be getting a great version of the star quarterback.
