If Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys had even a slight hope of signing Deion Sanders as his head coach in the future, that wish seems to have taken a massive hit, according to a report from Brian Howell.
“Breaking: Colorado’s board of regents have approved a new 5-year, $54 million contract for head coach Deion Sanders that will make him one of the highest-paid coaches in the country.”
After his great work with Jackson State and Colorado, many fans and experts thought that a reunion of Sanders with the Cowboys was inevitable in an attempt to win the Super Bowl. Now, that dream seems to be fading.
Will Deion Sanders coach the Dallas Cowboys?
No. Deion Sanders signed a contract to stay with Colorado in the short term, and for now, that move to stay in college football shuts the door on any possibility of him becoming the future head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
It’s important to remember that Brian Schottenheimer was named as Mike McCarthy’s replacement in Dallas, but rumors suggested it was all part of a possible transition to Deion. However, the new contract with the Buffaloes confirms what Coach Prime always said: the NFL was not for him as a head coach.
