Jerry Jones spoke again about the controversial situation between the Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons. The player is seeking a historic contract extension, but, in a surprising turn, the team owner hinted in an interview with Fox News that the defensive star should consider asking for less money.

“Micah is a great player. Not a good player, but a great player. He knows more than anyone that it’s a team thing. So, I know everybody is tired of hearing this, but you’ve got to put this puzzle together so that you can have some other people out there playing with Micah. That’s the art of the deal and that’s why we’re trying to get it done. We’re trying to make this thing work, but, we have all the appreciation in the world for what he can mean to the years ahead. We’re proud of having him.”

The interesting part is that, last year, Jones didn’t ask Dak Prescott or CeeDee Lamb for any discounts and paid them as if they were the best players at their respective positions. Now, no one understands why he isn’t doing the same with Parsons.

Is Jerry Jones trading Micah Parsons?

No. Jerry Jones has publicly stated several times that he has no intention of trading Micah Parsons. Despite that, the owner is also not satisfied with the negotiation terms the player has set with his agent. That is what has delayed a new deal.

How much money does Micah Parsons want from Cowboys?

Micah Parsons wants at least $41 million per season and roughly $120 million guaranteed to accept any multi-year deal. That is the benchmark set a few weeks ago by star players at his position, such as Myles Garrett and T.J. Watt.

The formula is very simple. Considering that Parsons is much younger than Garrett and Watt, he will not accept less than becoming the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. After opening the wallet for Prescott and Lamb, Jones seems reluctant to grant him that wish.
