Emeka Egbuka is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ big bet for the upcoming NFL season, joining Mike Evans and Chris Godwin as part of the team’s top wide receiver trio.

If there’s one team that can boast serious firepower on offense, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers deserve to be in that conversation. With Baker Mayfield under center, the Bucs already have two of the NFL’s top wide receivers in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Not stopping there, they used their first pick in the latest draft to select the talented Emeka Egbuka — adding even more youth and talent to an already loaded receiving corps.

Todd Bowles already has both experience and potential in his wide receiver room — so why would the Bucs use their first-round pick on yet another receiver? While some around the league might have seen it as a bold or even questionable move, Evans himself welcomed Egbuka’s arrival with enthusiasm.

In a recent conversation with the media, the veteran receiver and Baker Mayfield’s trusted target expressed his approval of the team’s decision to draft the former Buckeye. He highlighted several positive aspects of Emeka Egbuka’s game, noting that his skill set could help make Tampa Bay’s offense even more dynamic and explosive.

“I didn’t [expect to draft a receiver] either, but you know [general manager] Jason [Licht] has always been great in drafts, and we wanted to pick the best players available, and from what I’ve seen so far, he was definitely the best player available… So, looking forward to a great year for him, Emeka,” Evans said, per Kevin Patra of NFL.com.

He also added: “He looks like a running back, but I mean, he catches like Chris Godwin… He’s a very polished, very well-rounded player.”

The Bucs are building a formidable offense

The Buccaneers enter the upcoming season with high expectations, led by Baker Mayfield, who’s looking to build on a strong 2024 campaign. His connection with veteran receiver Mike Evans remains a cornerstone of the offense, providing leadership and big-play ability when it matters most.

Chris Godwin, who was secured through a new contract, adds stability and versatility to the receiving corps. Adding to the excitement is rookie Emeka Egbuka, whose speed and route-running could bring a fresh dimension to Tampa Bay’s attack.

With a balanced roster and growing chemistry, the Bucs are eyeing the NFC South crown. If key players stay healthy and the offense clicks, a deep playoff run — and even a return to the Super Bowl — isn’t out of the question.
