NFL News: Mike Tomlin and Steelers have reportedly made final decision between Aaron Rodgers and another franchise quarterback

In a critical decision for the future of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Mike Tomlin and the team have reportedly narrowed their options down to two potential quarterbacks: veteran superstar Aaron Rodgers and a top draft prospect.

Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers have made it a priority to sign Aaron Rodgers as their quarterback for next season. However, according to a report from Jeremy Fowler, a much more ambitious long-term plan is already in development.

“This is why teams that have a quarterback who’s in the top half of the league pay them $50, $60 million dollars, whatever they want, because life in the middle is rough. The Pittsburgh Steelers have experienced that since Ben Roethlisberger left. They can’t find a solution, but my sense is they will go heavy on the draft. They will draft a quarterback high. If not this year, then next year, because Aaron Rodgers clearly is a one-year bridge.”

The Steelers haven’t won the Super Bowl in over 16 years and have tried to find Ben Roethlisberger’s successor with different names like Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky, Mason Rudolph, Justin Fields, or Russell Wilson. No formula has worked.

Will Steelers sign Aaron Rodgers?

Aaron Rodgers already visited the Steelers in Pittsburgh, but he left the building without signing a contract. As a result, the star quarterback is still a free agent and is considering all his available options.

Right now, the Steelers and the Giants are the teams that have made an offer, although Rodgers’ main wish is for the Vikings not to be convinced with J.J. McCarthy’s performances in training camp and grant him one last chance. However, that path will only be known by July or August.
