NFL News: Mike Tomlin and Steelers may have a possible deadline for Aaron Rodgers

As the uncertainty around Aaron Rodgers continues, the Pittsburgh Steelers, led by head coach Mike Tomlin, appear to be eyeing a key date that could determine the veteran quarterback's future.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are handling the situation with Aaron Rodgers appropriately, according to Ian Rapoport. For the insider, a key factor is that they are indeed giving the quarterback all the time he needs without pressuring him to make a final decision.

“First of all, I think the Steelers are handling it the right way. Do your thing, come to us when you want. Any quarterback acquisition, they could sort of make it any time, right? So, they’re doing the right thing with how they’ve handled it. I’m sure he appreciates that time to just go through what he is going through right now.”

However, many fans and experts disagree with the idea of a historic franchise hinging its season on a 41-year-old player who, just two seasons ago, suffered a devastating Achilles injury. It doesn’t seem like the ideal formula for pursuing a Super Bowl.

Does Aaron Rodgers have a deadline from Steelers?

No. The Steelers have not imposed a deadline on Aaron Rodgers, and team owner Art Rooney II confirmed that they are willing to wait a little longer. Amid this uncertainty, Rapoport believes that June 10 and the mandatory minicamp could be the anticipated date.

“If I had to guess, and this is not reporting, this is really just guessing, players a lot of times like to have things done before mandatory minicamp so they can have the playbook. I mean, they could give him the playbook anyway, but, if there is a deadline, a softish deadline, right before minicamp would make sense.”
