Shedeur Sanders is in an open race to stay on the Cleveland Browns roster and then compete for the starting job against Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Dillon Gabriel.

The Colorado Buffaloes star in college football has already sent a strong first message to his teammates in the QB room with an outstanding performance at the start of the preseason in Carolina: 14 of 23 passes, 138 yards, and two touchdowns.

The big question is whether, after falling all the way to the fifth round of the draft, Shedeur can become the franchise quarterback who can transform the Browns into a Super Bowl contender.

Who will be Browns’ QB in 2025?

After the game against the Carolina Panthers, several reporters asked Shedeur Sanders what he thought about the open competition that Kevin Stefanski announced for the starting QB job in Cleveland and if he believes he has a fair shot at earning it.

“When I get out there, I just think about doing what I got to do. Everything else is not in my hands. So, why worry about it? I just don’t think that deep into everything because it’s nothing you’re going to be able to control. So, why put energy in something that you can’t control? The most you can do is whenever you get your opportunity and your number is called, perform at least the bare minimum and win the game.”
