Mitch Marner is the newest addition on the Golden Knights, and one of the biggest questions is what his role on the team will be. Bruce Cassidy gave some clues about whether the Canadian star will play on the same line as Jack Eichel. It all happened on the Leafs Morning Take podcast.
“First of all, there needs to be chemistry, first of all. And there might be some automatically, and there might be none. You never know. They’re going to get an opportunity at some point, whether it’s early on or later, to play together. Because you want to see what it looks like.”
With Marner’s arrival, the Golden Knights have entered the conversation as a potential contender to dethrone Brad Marchand and the Florida Panthers. Obviously, the first step in the conference will be to take the Western title away from Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.
What team does Mitch Marner play for?
Mitch Marner now plays for the Vegas Golden Knights after leaving Auston Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs in a trade that shocked the entire NHL right at the start of the free agency period.
Now, head coach Bruce Cassidy has a wide range of options with Marner and other key names like Mark Stone, William Karlsson, Tomas Hertl, Adin Hill, and of course, Jack Eichel.

“Mark Stone was up there with Jack last year, pretty good hockey player, right? So we have Hertl, we have Karlsson, so Mitch’s going to get a good center, and what’s the best fit where he can play his game? I’ll say this about Jack and Mitch. They’re probably both distributors first. So, it’ll be interesting to see if they do play together. And I’m sure they will in situations, even if they’re not in the same line, and see how that works out if one of them becomes more of a shooter. But those questions will all get answered as we go along.”
