Following a concerning production in the 2024-25 NHL season, New York Rangers star Mika Zibanejad has been brought up in several rumors around the league. However, his spouse wasted no time in setting the record straight with a firm statement.

Once considered a franchise player on the Rangers, Zibanejad has been under heavy scrutiny as of late in New York. The 32-year-old centerman has suffered a considerable setback in his point-production and deflating performances have fueled public outcry for a move away from Manhattan.

The jury is still out, nevertheless. While many argue Zibanejad is past his best version, other fans still believe in the former 6th overall selection of the 2011 NHL Draft.

Recently, reports indicated that the Rangers and Mika Zibanejad’s camp had reached a consensus regarding the star’s future. The two parties had reportedly agreed that moving on would be best, but Irma Zibanejad’s recent statement has cast doubt on those rumors.

We just had Mika’s new coach [Mike Sullivan] here at our home, he flew over from New York recently,” Irma Zibanejad said, per Swedish website Aftonbladet and The New York Post. “We also just got our new home in New York. I’m always shocked about how newspapers just spread things without considering the source.”
