Gold Cup 2021: Kevin Fortune makes history by scoring the tournament’s 1000th goal

The 2021 Gold Cup has already delivered some exciting feats at Concacaf’s 60th anniversary. On Matchday 3, the tournament reached its 1000 goals.

The Gold Cup provided a fresh identity to the Concacaf flagship competition back in 1991. Sixteen editions later, the tournament keeps on adding records for the history books.

On Matchday 3 of the group stage, the competition reached its 1000 goals as Kevin Fortune left an indelible mark on the Gold Cup history, regardless of his team’s performance.

When it seemed like Martinique had not much to play for, Kevin Fortune suddenly contributed to mark a special Gold Cup milestone, as his equalizer against Haiti was the 1000th goal in the tournament’s history.

Martinique’s Kevin Fortune gets into Concacaf Gold Cup history books

Without much at stake except for trying to conclude their participation strongly, Martinique and Haiti didn’t have too many expectations for the final matchday of Group B. Surprisingly, that game marked a Gold Cup record.
