Saudi Pro League giants Al Nassr will face Portuguese side Rio Ave in a friendly match at Estadio Algarve tonight as part of their ongoing preseason campaign. Following Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal in their last friendly against Toulouse, the Portuguese star will start in tonight’s match.

Before the club confirmed his participation, Ronaldo appeared to hint at it in an Instagram story posted on Wednesday. The forward shared a photo of himself training, along with the caption: ā€œSee you tomorrow in Algarve!ā€

After months of speculation, Ronaldo has opted to remain in Saudi Arabia, extending his contract with Al Nassr through 2027. Despite his efforts, he has yet to win an official trophy since his arrival in the Middle East.

Al Nassr, however, has been active in the transfer market, bringing in new talent such as JoĆ£o FĆ©lix, Ronaldo’s compatriot. The 25-year-old, recently on loan at Chelsea, made his debut for the club in the friendly against Toulouse.

What’s next for Al Nassr?

Al-Nassr will be keen to shake off any early rust before the 2025–26 campaign gets into full swing. Their first official fixture is fast approaching, as they face Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Super Cup semi-final on August 19.

Last season, the ex-Real Madrid star ended the year as the league’s top goal scorer and will be aiming to replicate that feat. Still, his primary goal remains securing a major trophy.
