Lionel Messi missed the double-header due to injury. Despite his absence, Argentina’s clash with Brazil carried plenty of history. Before the match, FC Barcelona’s Raphinha sparked controversy during an interview with Romario. He claimed he would score a goal and added, “Screw them.” Argentina’s coach Lionel Scaloni responded to those remarks andrevealed who he believes is the second-best soccer player in the world and it is not Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I didn’t go deep into the statements made by the Brazilian players. It’s always an important match, but at the end of the day, it’s just soccer. We have to remember the image of Messi and Neymar, that’s what we should focus on, them being together and being friends… That says it all, with the best player in the world and possibly the second best player in the world together, and being friends. That’s the image we have to be left with,” stated Lionel Scaloni.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have dominated soccer for over 15 years. Despite that, Lionel Scaloni named Neymar Jr. as the second-best player in the world. Many fans questioned Scaloni’s statement as Cristiano is one of the most successful players in history. He made a huge impact on world soccer. The Portuguese forward built his legacy at major clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus.
