Peru defeated Venezuela 1-0 on Matchday 5 of Copa America 2021 to earn the second spot on the Group B and qualified for the next round. With this defeat, Venezuela is out of the tournament without any wins. La Blanquirroja started the tournament as one of the underdogs after their bad run on the Conmebol World Cup Qualifiers, however Ricardo Gareca’s team has grown with each game and was the second best og Group B after Brazil.

Peru got their second win in the tournament thanks to a lonely goal by André Carrillo after a corner. La Vinotinto didn’t show the same fighting spirit that they had against Colombia and Ecuador, and besides having some chances to equalize, couldn’t score.
