The Tokyo 2020 Men's Volleyball Preliminary Round ended on August 1, 2021, with possible gold medal favorite teams like the United States eliminated from the tournament. They didn't manage to add a victory to their account in the final Matchday 5, and thus they missed out on a spot in the last eight.

In addition to the US, three other countries bid the Olympics farewell, including their Pool B fellow side Tunisia, Iran, Venezuela. Both Tunisia and Venezuela failed to win least one game, while Iran and USA both grabbed two victories each, but it was not enough to qualify for the Quarter-Finals.

With a total of 13 points, Poland finished first in Pool A, leaving behind Italy with 11 points in second, hosts Japan with eight, and Canada with seven points take the last spot in the nextphase. ROC, Brazil, Argentina, and France are the other four other teams that have joined them from Pool B. After the break, on August 3, the teams will all embark on their final journey towards the 2020 Summer Olympics gold.
