The Olympic Games will pass the torch to the Summer Paralympic Games, which start this week. The best athletes with different disabilities from all over the world will compete in Tokyo to bring gold home. And the Games will kick off with the Opening Ceremony, as it’s tradition.
Tokyo will be hosting the Summer Paralympics for the second time, after they also held the Games in 1964. The 16th edition of the Paralympics was originally scheduled to take place between 25 August and 6 September 2020, but it had to be postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In Tokyo, almost 5,000 athletes will be representing 163 nations in 540 events. There’ll be 22 sports in the Games this year, with taekwondo and badminton making their debuts. However, first, athletes will take part in the traditional parade. Here, check out how to watch the opening ceremony.
