It’s been two weeks since the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games officially ended, but there’s still another major sporting event to be looking forward to. The Paralympic Games will begin on Tuesday, August 24 and they will finish on September 5, 2021. 

The Paralympic Games were created in 1948 and they bring the best athletes who have different disabilities. This year, the Games will feature 24 sports, including Badminton and Taekwondo, which will make their debuts. 

In the last five Paralympic Games, China has topped the medal table. So, countries like the US, Australia, Ukraine and Great Britain will try to break that streak. For Team USA, there’s various famous athletes that will try to take gold like Deja Young (track and field) and Tatyana McFadden (T54).  

Will the 2021 Paralympics be televised?

Yes, the Paralympic Games will be televised. Just like the Olympics, the Games will be broadcasted in the United States by NBC, NBCSN, and the Olympic Channel. Also, you can stream the Games on Peacock, NBC's streaming service. 

If you want to watch the Opening Ceremony, which will take place on Tuesday, August 24, at 7 a.m. ET, and Closing Ceremony, you can do it on NBCSN. Also, NBC Sports digital platform will do a live streaming coverage of the Games. 

The first events that will take place in the Paralympic Games will be the wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby, cycling track and swimming, all on Tuesday, August 24 from 10 pm (ET) until 3 am (ET).
