LeBron James is one of the greatest players in NBA history and one of the most popular athletes in the world. Moreover, he's been a regular face in the Olympics before, yet he's nowhere to be found in Tokyo 2020.

Most casual fans would tune in to watch Team USA and witness The King leading their nation to the podium once again, and some will be quite disappointed to know that this time, he won't take part in the festivities.

But, what's happening? Why isn't LeBron James with Team USA for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics? Wasn't he called up? Will he retire? Or was he just tired? Who'll take his place? Worry no more, as we're going to answer all those questions shortly.

Why Isn't LeBron James Playing For Team USA In The Tokyo 2020 Olympics?

As you may know by now, LeBron James isn't getting any younger. He's 36 years old and has been playing at the highest level for the past 18 years, so, he needs to get some time off just like anybody else.

The King nursed a high-ankle injury towards the end of the season with the Los Angeles Lakers and will need some months to heal and get back to full strength. Also, he's been quite busy with Space Jam: A New Legacy's release.
