Robert Saleh and the New York Jets have an anomaly in their roster. Although, many discredited New York’s coaching staff for it, Saleh made it clear to Rodgers that his role at Jets is not restricted to the on-field decisions. “I mean, he’s one of the greatest ever,” Saleh said, per the San Francisco Chronicle. “And he’s 40. I mean, he’s got more experience in coaching than most of the coaches on our staff. It would be silly not to ask him a question or two, you know?,” The New York Jets’ head coach stated. “Any organization that has a [future] Hall of Fame quarterback is gonna defer to him and to make sure that things are in a way that he needs it to be so he can perform his best.”

<h2>Jets’ precautionary approach to Rodgers preseason</h2>



Last season was a nightmare for the Jets organization. Following the blockbuster trade through which Aaron Rodgers became a Jet, the team entered the season as heavy favorites to make a deep run in the playoffs. All the talk during the offseason, along with the fans’ enthusiasm, it all came crashing down on the first drive of the season. Rodgers’ Acchiles suffered a gruesome injury and despite belief on his miraculous unorthodox recovery, the QB didn’t play one more snap on the season. 



This time around, the Jets are taking every single precaution with their veteran QB. Once bitten, twice shy. Rodgers did not play during any preseason match and so fans will watch his return on September 9th, when the Jets take on the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium. Certainly not an easy task, almost one year after his injury the quarterback will face one of the best defenses in the NFL. 



The stakes are high for Robert Saleh, Aaron Rodgers, and the New York Jets and whatever way their season goes, the team hopes their quarterback is healthy and available to take the reigns. The belief is that any outcome will be fair as long as it is dictated by their play and not defined by unfortunate injuries.

<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/mac-jones">Mac Jones</a> has not become the NFL quarterback many expected coming out of college and after his impressive rookie season on the New England Patriots. Since, Jones’ play lowered and who was once summoned to be Tom Brady’s succesor was traded to the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/jacksonville-jaguars">Jacksonville Jaguars</a> as a backup to franchise cornerstone Trevor Lawrence. 



Jones is well aware he is under constant surveillance and every time he steps on the field he is being evaluated not only by head coach Doug Pederson and the Jags’ staff, but by every team in the league that may take a chance on developing the Alabama prospect. His preseason performance has been good and Mac showed signs of improvement and room for unexploited potential. Pederson was wary of his backup QB’s antics and tendencies, though. And he responsibilized the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/new-england-patriots">Patriots </a>for it. 



“Mac has played extremely well the last couple of weeks and really has bought into what we do,” Pederson stated, via NFL.com. “He’ll still revert back to his Patriot ways every now and then and we got to remind him he’s in Jacksonville, but he’s done a good job.” 



The ‘Patriots’ Way‘ no longer stands for what it did during more than two decades. Foxborough’s franchise past glory now looks well behind them and their QB room has not recovered since Brady’s departure. Mac Jones’ rookie season was an oasis and his following seasons brought to light many issues that both the organization and Jones were responsible for.

There has not been a response to Pederson’s comments from inside the Patriots and there may not be a public addressing, but the quote will not go unnoticed when both teams meet again. The date for said encounter will be October 20th, when the Jaguars and Patriots clash at Wembley Stadium. <h2>Mac Jones’ two sides of a coin</h2>



The 2021 NFL Draft 15th overall pick bursted into the league with an impressive rookie season in which he led the Patriots to a wildcard berth. Individually Jones finished second in the Offensive Rookie of the Year scrutiny, behind Cincinnati Bengals wideout JaMarr Chase.



Patriots fans were ecstatic and devoted to their young quarterback. At the time many called Jones the “next Brady” and although hindsight is 20/20, those claims aged poorly during the next seasons.



The numbers showcase Jones’ depleted production. In 2021 he played all 17 games and tallied 3,801 yards with 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. The next two seasons he could not break the 3,000 yards mark and was benched multiple times for his poor performances. Such was Mac Jones’ downfall that the Patriots shipped him off to Jacksonville. In exchange, New England received a 6th round pick. 



From being named to the All-Rookie team of the year to being traded for a Day 3 draft pick, Jones value plummeted and his time in Jacksonville will be crucial for him to recover and show he can still be a starting QB in the NFL.

Still, Purdy has asserted his position and has proven well-worthy of a starting quarterback salary in today’s league. Yet there always seems to be a higher standard for him. And Kittle admits the QB does not shy away from it. “He’s incredibly hard on himself,” the tight end added.

<h2>49ers’ front office faces future-defining decision involving Purdy</h2>



Despite Purdy’s success under Kyle Shanahan’s scheme and the team’s deep playoff runs, the organization has doubts around its franchise quarterback and has not yet fully committed to him. This has also fed the division between those in favor and those against the quarterback.



Brock Purdy signed a four-year entry contract in 2022 but will soon be seeking a new deal fit for a quarterback of a Super Bowl runner-up. The Niners are in need of more time to fully evaluate their QB and will have two more seasons of Purdy until he becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2026.



The front office is playing a risky game on a valuable asset. If they plan to keep Purdy for the long term, his salary increases with every day that passes by. Trading Trey Lance to the Cowboys seems to be evidence of the team’s belief in Purdy, but the Iowa prospect has not put pen to paper yet. The Buffalo Bills have gone through turmoil during the NFL offseason. As players finally got back on the field in the spring, new problems arose.

Free agency additions Curtis Samuel and Marquez Valdes-Scantling came into Buffalo but have gone down with injuries during the preseason. As it stands, the rookie Coleman will have to fill into the big void left behind by Diggs departure.



Those are some really big shoes to fill and Josh Allen and the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/buffalo-bills">Bills</a>‘ championship window depends on it. However, McDermott may have hinted towards an optimistic horizon. And that hope might just be what Allen needs to boost his confidence and elevate everybody around him.

<h2>Injury bug has affected Bills locker room</h2>



Samuel and Valdes-Scantling were not the only Bills to miss considerable time this offseason. Other names on the Injury Report include that of Mitchell Trubisky, the backup quarterback who is being sidelined with a knee injury. 



Most importantly, Matt Milano tore his biceps during a tackling bag drill and is out indefinitely. This terrible news for Buffalo’s star pass rusher arrive after the 30-year-old missed most of last season due to a fractured leg.

On his first season over in Tampa Mayfield passed for over 4000 yards and threw 28 touchdowns against 10 interceptions.

Perhaps the loudest compliments come from his partner in crime in the backfield Rachaad White. The star running back addressed how Baker is looking both physically and football-wise.

Ahead of their preseason finale in Tampa next Friday, the Miami Dolphins head coach expressed his regards for Mayfield’s evolution after looking at him from up-close.



“So I was high on him coming out, and I think he’s had a cool story where the really good quarterbacks in this league you have to be able to handle the highs and the lows,” Mike McDaniel said when asked about the Bucs quarterback. “I think he’s experienced both and came out a prime example of how to continue to progress your game“.



McDaniel didn’t leave it at that and instead added on: “I think he is a galvanizer of teammates. I think he brings people together and there’s certainly a lot of energy when he makes a play from the whole team. So you can tell what he means to this team and why he is having success.”

Mike McDaniel has become a household name thanks mainly to his creative schemes and hilarious statements at the podium. However, when it comes to it he is not one to silence his thoughts. On the days after <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/tua-tagovailoa">Tua Tagovailoa</a> opened up on the harsh time he spent under the tutelage of Brian Flores during his first years on the Miami Dolphins, McDaniel stood by his QB.



When the news broke out the NFL universe echoed Tua’s criticism and while some stood by Flores’ side others highlighted the positive effects McDaniel has had on Tagovailoa ever since his arrival at Miami. After a disappointing rookie and sophomore season, Tua took his game to another level on <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/mike-mcdaniel">McDaniel</a>‘s scheme and finished the 2023 season as the league’s passing yards leader.

But, honestly, that’s in the wind.”

<h2>Tua targets Brian Flores as the reason for his lack of confidence during first seasons in the NFL</h2>



Tagovailoa’s first seasons in Miami were chaotic in many ways. The bad play on field was accompanied by irregularities in the front office of the Dolphins and a tough leader in Brian Flores. Tua was sidelined often, sometimes due to injuries and others because of a coaching decision. 



Fast-forward two years later and Tagovailoa has become one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Such has been his turnaround he is now the third-highest paid player in the league. It was not magic, and Tua didn’t hold back at the man in charge during his toughest times. 



“To put it in the simplest terms,&nbsp;if you woke up every morning&nbsp;and&nbsp;I told you that you suck at what you did, that you don’t belong doing what you do, that you shouldn’t be here, that this guy should be here, that you haven’t earned this,” Tagovailoa said about Flores.

After his 3-year tenure at the Dolphins, Flores became senior defensive assistant and linebackers coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. And following the 2022 season he took on a job as defensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings. As the schedule would have it, Tua and Flores have only met in the gridiron once since. And although Tua had not stated expressively the bad blood between them, it was clear they were not on the best terms.



“I’m genuinely happy for the success that Tua’s had. I wish nothing but the best for Tua. Really, more than anything, I’m just focused on the 2024 Vikings,” Flores had to say on Tua’s comments towards his coaching antics.

<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/patrick-mahomes">Patrick Mahomes</a> has accustomed the NFL to a standard of play that no other quarterback can regularly match. His Kansas City Chiefs teammates have become household names thanks to his unparalleled skill. Tom Brady has done that on the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as well. Known for making everybody around them stand out, these quarterbacks have had their fair share of superstar weapons, though.



Both Mahomes and <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/tom-brady">Brady</a> have shown their respect for each other and often times envied their accolades. One could only imagine what the 7x Super Bowl champ would look like surrounded by Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, as well as fantasize on a hypothetical Mahomes-Rob Gronkowski linkup with Bill Belichick calling the shots from the sideline.



However, none of these were the focus of Mahomes’ fantasy in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl">NFL</a>. Instead, he opted for a former teammate of Brady who never got to win a Super Bowl on the Patriots. Or anywhere, ever.



“It’d definitely be Randy Moss,” Mahomes told the NFL’s social media when asked about a retired player he wishes could play alongside him. “Just because I feel like I’d be able to throw the ball extremely far and he’d be able to run it down and catch a lot of touchdowns.”

Patrick Mahomes and Randy Moss would be a match made in heaven. The wideout helped Brady lead the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/new-england-patriots">Patriots</a> to a 16-0 season in 2007, although the undefeated season came to a heartbreaking finale in the biggest stage against the New York Giants. Were Mahomes lucky enough to throw spirals to Moss the story could have been different.

<h2>The only players who have shared the huddle with Mahomes and Brady</h2>



Brady and Mahomes are arguably the two greatest quarterbacks of this generation, and possibly in NFL history, but only a handful of offensive players can brag about playing alongside both of them. These players in question, however, are not the biggest names in the business and some have not shared the same success as their huddle leaders.



Joe Thuney has shared the gridiron with Brady and Mahomes but unlike any other player in this list, he did not catch a football from the quarterbacks but rather the opposite, since he played center. Still, Thuney definitely had the most success out of every fellow Mahomes and Brady teammates. He won two Super Bowls in New England and, following a trade to <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/kansas-city-chiefs">Kansas City</a>, he added two more to his résumé. As it stands, he boasts one more ring than Mahomes.

No other player has had that balanced success playing with Mahomes and Brady. Wide receiver Josh Gordon, for instance, caught footballs from both quarterbacks but his impact was not memorable whatsoever. He did earn a place in this list where only a few belong.



LeSean McCoy had his dream come true as he played for the Chiefs and Buccaneers in his last two seasons, respectively. The running back won consecutive Super Bowls with Kansas City in 2020 and the Bucs in 2021, even though he did not play a single snap in either championship game.

Tom Brady has not been one to shy away from sharing his views on football ever since retiring. As the regular season opener between Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs and <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/lamar-jackson">Lamar Jackson</a>‘s Baltimore Ravens approaches, the retired quarterback made a bold statement regarding the latter’s chances to contend. 



Despite an outstanding MVP season in which Jackson helped the Ravens finish as the top seed in the AFC, their run was cut short by <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/patrick-mahomes">Mahomes</a> and the Chiefs. This offseason, Baltimore added Derrick Henry to an already star-studded backfield and is seen by many experts as the biggest threat to Kansas’ supremacy. 



Brady begs to differ though, with the 7x Super Bowl champ sharing his doubts about the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/baltimore-ravens">Ravens</a> during an appearance on the Stephen A. Smith Show. Despite Baltimore’s feared defense, reknowned head-coaching and its two-time MVP quarterback, Brady has yet to buy into their hype. He states there is one key element missing.



“I think it’s still the Bills or the Bengals,” <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/tom-brady">Brady</a> said regarding the biggest threats to Mahomes’ Chiefs reign in the AFC. Asked by Smith on whether Jackson and the Ravens deserve a spot in that conversation, Brady explained: “They’re right up there. But I would say… the Ravens have to be more successful in the postseason for me to feel like ‘okay, they’re right there.’”

Ever since his debut season in 2018, Patrick Mahomes has never missed an AFC Championship game. He lost twice in that round and the only two quarterbacks who hold that honor over Mahomes´ head are Tom Brady and Joe Burrow.

Burrow’s Bengals are coming off a frustrating season filled with injuries. Back healthy and with a contract extension on the horizon for star wide receiver, Ja’Marr Chase, hope is sky-high for fans of the organization. And apparently even Brady is amongst the hopeful.



On the other hand, the Buffalo Bills are not the clear-cut candidates they previously were. Stefon Diggs was traded during the offseason and the defense suffered heavy injuries, yet Brady is not sleeping on their franchise quarterback, Josh Allen.

It was a long offseason for Lamar and company after their heartbreaking loss to the Chiefs on the AFC Championship game. Luckily for them, the Ravens may get their payback when visiting Arrowhead on Thursday, September 5. As a new season gets underway and the Chiefs unveil their new Super Bowl banner, Jackson’s Ravens will look to silence the critics and kickstart their campaign in assertive fashion.
