His remarkable performance reminded me of our encounter last year on hard courts. We’ve trained together on different surfaces, but this was our first competitive meeting on grass,” Djokovic stated.

He further remarked: “I noticed his prowess on grass during practice, but there is a significant difference between training and competing officially. He exhibited a high level of play throughout, and his serve was particularly challenging to handle. Flavio is undoubtedly a talented and skillful player.“

Djokovic’s milestones after his quarterfinals victory

Not only did Djokovic secure his spot in the Wimbledon semifinals for the 14th time in his illustrious career, but he also achieved and surpassed several significant milestones on Wednesday. Notably, he eclipsed Roger Federer, who had reached 13 Wimbledon semifinals, thus setting a new standard.

With this latest triumph, Djokovic equaled the record held by Chris Evert for the most semifinals appearances in Grand Slam tournaments, boasting 52 in the Open Era. Additionally, he achieved a personal milestone by securing his 102nd victory at Wimbledon, surpassing his previous record of 101 wins at Roland Garros.
